Los Tremendos
"Tremendos" Series Statement
The Tremendos (tremendous) series were influenced by Mexican luchadores and guardians. In some regions in Mexico, it is believed that everyone has a guardian angel. Such beings advise people to do good deeds, while protecting them from dangers and evil. As people grow older, their perspective changes from guardian angels to physical heroes. Luchadores is a representation of physical heroes, because of their immense strength and agility to overcome adversity. People can also identify with luchadores, due to their mannerism and emotions that they express through stardom inside the ring.
Tremendos is a series of luchadores as guardians, thus reflecting the emotions, physiological strengths, and behavior of people in everyday life: both good and bad. Each tremendo’s emotion is represented in different forms. Some can be humorous and others formal. This addresses that Mexican culture coexists in a diverse society that embraces all forms of real expression, outrageous explanations, and surreal outcomes. The expectation is that each action, event, or expression can be a vehicle for identification among the audience.
